Or you can connect a UPnP drive (Universal plug and play hard drive). This is an external hard drive which must be certified as “UPnP” such as the one below. By plugging a hard drive such as this you can have 100’s of gigabytes of music played directly through your home hi-fi syste,
You can select your music by genre, album, artist, & star rating. This makes it easy to find the music you are looking for and set up playlists for parties and different users.
Connecting to a home network
The MR-2000 allows you to connect to a home computer network via a standard Ethernet connection (RJ45) or via its built in wireless card compatible with the G & N standards. This allows you to stream all the music stored on your computer (or a hard drive connected to your PC) through the MR-2000 through to your sound system. The MR-2000 has a connection wizard allowing you easily find available networks and connect to them. It can work with the following wireless encrypted networks: WEP, WPA, WPA2.
The MR-2000 not only allows you to search via the directories on your computer but also via the playlist functionality - for example Artist, Album, Rating, & Genre. This allows you to search through large collections of music quickly.
Important notes on wireless connections. The MR-2000 has both a Wired Ethernet & Wireless connection capability. A Wired Connection is recommended. Wireless connections can be unreliable as they are subject to interference from home appliances and neighbouring networks. It is not recommended to use the MR-2000 in a wireless capacity unless it is in the same room or possibly the next room as the wireless modem (but this will be dependant on room size and building materials). Using wireless connectivity is more likely to have drop outs or being unable to connect to the network than wired connections
Please note: DAB & DAB+ are different formats. This tuner is compatible with both. DAB has been available in the UK for over 10 years but most older radios are DAB only and not compatible with the Australian format, DAB+. The MR-2000 is capable of playing CD quality music. The quality of the sound you hear will be a factor of the broadcast quality of the radio station you are listening to (for example: if the radio station decides to broadcast in a lower quality so it can broadcast multiple stations on their available bandwidth) and the quality of your amplifier and speakers.
